- Connecting with Peninsula people for Jesus

Dear friends,

Spring has sprung!  We’ve had rain and we’ve had sunshine. It’s wonderful to welcome so many people to worship each week. We are fortunate in being able to meet  as a worshipping community in the love of Christ each week.

Why go to church?

I was given this article and thought it was worth sharing with you.

A church goer was heard to grumble to a neighbor, “I’ve gone to church for 30 years now. In that time I must have heard over 3,000 sermons, but for the life of me – I can’t remember a single one of them. I think I must be wasting my time.

His neighbour sympathised and then said, “I’ve been married for 37 years. In that time my wife has cooked 32,000 meals and for the life of me, I can’t recall the entire menu for a single one of those meals . But, I do know this. They all nourished me and gave me the strength I needed to do my work!

Coming to church as a community nourishes us in many ways and especially the gospel of Jesus nourishes us in hope, faith , love, kindness,  caring and  forgiveness.  With over one third of older people reportedly living with loneliness, our church’s mission is to be a welcoming place for the new comer and the whole community.

May we continue to “keep our eyes upon Jesus” our teacher, healer, Saviour and bringer of peace.

God bless you and keep you. Shalom my friends,

Rev. Frances
